What is AYUDH?

AYUDH is an international youth movement, dedicated to empowering young people to contribute to a peaceful and sustainable world and become compassionate leaders with a sense of tolerance, solidarity and global responsibility. At AYUDH, we are driven by the desire to make a difference and be catalysts for positive change. AYUDH is a Sanskrit term meaning ‘peace’, which is symbolized by the dove in our logo.

Through self-transformation and service to others, AYUDH encourages young people to work towards the betterment of society. AYUDH’s initiatives are organized by and for youth across the world, and are based on five main pillars:

  1. Capacity Development’: Development of skills, knowledge, values and confidence of youth and qualified volunteers for youth work

  2. ‘Advocacy’: Activism and advocacy of youth for socially relevant issues with decision makers on national and international level

  3. ‘Voluntary Service’: Creation of programs for voluntary commitments for the purpose of the Association

  4. ‘Mobility and Exchange’: Mobility and exchange programs for youth and qualified volunteers in youth work, especially in the promotion of intercultural understanding

  5. ‘Charitable Activities’: Charitable and humanitarian activities both nationally and internationally

About the Summit

First held in 2005, AYUDH’s European Youth Summit now welcomes more than 300 young people from around Europe. AYUDH is a movement by youth and for youth, where young people determine the most urgent challenges facing their generation and identify solutions to address them. The summit provides a unique platform for personal development, intercultural dialogue and creative expression through a combination of talks and workshops that foster personal, environmental and global responsibilities, and practical training in leadership, change-making, mindfulness and sustainability. The teachings of Amma (Mata Amritanandamayi) form form an essential part of the reflections at the summit and spiritual practices like yoga, singing and meditation will be offered. The summit will bring together 300 young people aged 15 – 30 from across Europe. Participants strengthen their sense of active citizenship while experiencing the joy and empowerment of living and learning together with like-minded youth from diverse backgrounds. To conclude the summit, a dialogue with policy makers will bring the participant voices and views to the attention of senior decision makers – exploring the crucial role that young people have in creating a more peaceful and sustainable world. The summit is supported by the ERASMUS+ Youth in Action Programme of the European Union

Our inspiration

AYUDH  is an international youth movement, inspired and founded by Amma (Mata Amritanandamayi), widely recognised as one of the world’s most renowned humanitarians and spiritual leaders of our times.

Amma’s entire life has been dedicated to alleviating the pain of the poor and those suffering physically and emotionally. Amma inspires, uplifts and transforms through her physical embrace, her spiritual wisdom and her humanitarian activities.

Her boundless love and compassion crosses all barriers of nationality, race and religion.

When people ask Amma about her religion, she simply replies “my religion is Love.”

AYUDH forms the youth wing of Embracing the World®, a global network of humanitarian organisations guided by Amma and working to end poverty by providing access to food, shelterhealthcareeducation and livelihood in over 40 countries.

What people are saying about us:

Since AYUDH is an informal network of young people, the legal entity organizing the summit is:

M.A. Center Germany
Seminarzentrum Hof Herrenberg e.V., Hof Herrenberg 1,
64753 Brombachtal, Germany

It is a non-for-profit organization and spiritual community dedicated to promoting the values of sustainability, volunteering and intercultural exchange, while practicing Amma’s values and teachings. It is located in the Odenwald area about 1 hour from Frankfurt.

To follow and maintain the regular spiritual practices at M.A. Center Germany, there will be a short guided meditation, yoga and devotional singing offered every day.
